“My passion has always been working with parents, teachers, and therapists in helping children max out their potential, and most importantly I enjoy playing with children. Assisting children in ace-ing their strengths, improving their deficiencies, plus helping parents to understand their children’s condition, actions and self are my top reasons why I choose and love my job as a developmental psychologist. Learning about human development as a whole helped me to understand better why human beings react in certain ways and how it affects not only themselves but people around them. Remember parents, your mental health is as important as your child's. I intend to help you too.”

“My inspiration to become a speech therapist came from an interaction I had with a young special needs child when I was a teenager. Her unique way of communication made me interested to learn more. Speech therapy is not just a job but something where my heart is. I hope to help every child reach their potential and communicate meaningfully with others.”

“My decision to become a speech therapist is fueled by both encouragement and interest in this field. It is a great reward for me to contribute my knowledge to the development of special needs children, especially as I had a sibling with special needs. Every special needs child has their own way to communicate and interact with others. Hope that I can help them create a positive difference in their lives.”

“I have always love children and while searching for my passion I encounter many special needs children being neglected of education which lead me to the decision to learn ne understand more on ways and methods to educate children be it typical or atypical.”

“I enjoy working with special needs children because they often teach us as much as we teach them. I became a special needs teacher because I was a problematic child myself and understand the frustration of being reprimanded for not following instructions, even when having a different perspective. My goal is to help these children learn and meet societal expectations. While it can be challenging, being a special needs teacher is incredibly rewarding.”

I knew ‘special needs’ since I was 4 years old because of my grandma’s neighbour. I chose to study special needs was because of my cousin. Every children has their own unique and they are different. I am enjoyed the process and results on teaching with the kids. I am passionate to create different activities to them and I am happy to see they’re enjoy with it. As a teacher, I hope I can help as much as I can in this field and let them to be more independently. I hope all the children can learn in fun way and happy everyday just same as my name ‘ Kai Xin’.

“Children are my favourite! That's all I would like to say before I begin to introduce myself. My name is Sankitha, and I studied Psychology in Kuching, Sarawak. I've been involved with the Hatching group for a quite a while, and it's an honour to be teaching SRP this year. At Hatching, I believe that each child is special not because of their limitations, but because they have so much more to offer than any other member of our society. Taking this belief further, I would like to provide as much knowledge and life skills to all of the children as possible. I am a strong believer in creating learning environments that are appropriate for each child's abilities. Because I am passionate about it, I am confident that one day I will be able to successfully place my students in regular learning streams and light a sparkle in their lives.”

“I have never thought that I would become a teacher when I was younger. I attended high school in a private school where I got the opportunity to befriend and teach some children with special needs. I realized that I was able to work well with them and it gave me a sense of fulfillment. I then decided to pursue a career in special education. Although challenging, being a teacher allows me to be vital part of a child’s life and it brings me joy to see children overcome personal struggles and unlocking their true potential.”

“I have a cousin that is a high functioning ADD. When he was younger, I noticed the lack of understanding and awareness towards him and other special needs in general. I went on to study and educated myself more about special needs and along the journey managed to find a job as a Special Needs Teacher in Hatching Center.”

“Special need kids are never a liability, they are an asset:" that quote keeps me motivated day by day to keep striving for the kids. being a mainstream teacher for 5 years is never enough to challenge me, so I decided to continue my study in special need education field. as the day goes by, I fell in love more and more for my current job. Seeing they achieve something that others think they cannot do is indescribable feeling.”

A lot of what we talk about at school a moral issue like what's the right and wrong thing to do. How do our actions ensure or hinder equality of races,genders and social classes? As teacher , you will be instilling in children the idea that decisions they make will lead to a more or less equal world. And of course, we all want a more equal world for our children.”

“My passion grew for special needs education when helping with my ASD niece who is in her 20s now and my son who was a delayed learner, a severe picky eater, had silent reflux & had speech delay. I poured in a lot of time and effort to help him and he is now at par with his peers at 12yo. This helped me decide a few years back to study and pursue a new career in Special Needs Education with the hope to help more children. Watching children progress and grow brings a lot of joy to me.”

“Apart from mainstream education, special needs education also needs to be emphasized for the progress in the society. As a responsible person, I have to take a big initiative to ensure that education for special needs kids is not neglected and take part in this field.”
